Ready to say “I do” to the honeymoon of a lifetime? Turkey awaits!
DAY 1-3: Istanbul – A Magical City Between Europe & Asia
There’s nowhere quite like Istanbul (trust us, we live here 😁). Bridging two continents, this vibrant city effortlessly blends history, culture, and romance into one unforgettable experience.
From the colorful chaos of spice-scented bazaars to majestic palaces glowing at sunset, Istanbul offers endless ways to fall in love — both with the city and each other. 🫶

DAY 1: Old Town
There’s no better way to spend your first day wandering hand-in-hand through Istanbul’s historic Old City (called Sultanahmet) and getting acquainted with its centuries of Byzantine and Ottoman history!
A perfect first day should include a visit to Hagia Sophia, the 6th-century basilica-turned-mosque; the Blue Mosque with its cascade of domes and blue İznik tiles; the Hippodrome, the site of ancient chariot races; and, of course, Topkapi Palace, the opulent former residence of sultans.
The best way to see all of these iconic landmarks is with guided small-group tour (such as this top-rated one day tour!) where tour guides bring Istanbul’s past to life with fascinating tidbits, fun facts, and insider stories you might miss otherwise.
As a nice bonus, going with a certified tour guide allows you to skip the lines (!!), which is a lifesaver when visiting the ever-popular Topkapi Palace — after all, nobody wants to spend their honeymoon waiting in line, right? 🙂
If you still have energy after a day of exploring, there’s nothing more romantic than ending it with a night Bosphorus cruise. You’ll glide along the Bosphorus and see Istanbul from a whole new perspective where Ottoman palaces, grand waterfront mansions (yali), and historic mosques glow softly under golden lights.
Most night tours offer dinner, complimentary drinks, and traditional Turkish dancing — the perfect way to end your day, surrounded by music, lights, and the romance of Istanbul!

DAY 2: Beyoglu
If Sultanahmet is Istanbul’s ode to Ottoman history, then Beyoğlu is its love letter to the glamorous European belle époque, where Art Nouveau facades, bohemian cafés, and a cosmopolitan spirit fill the cobblestone streets. Without a doubt, this is one of the most romantic areas of Istanbul (and our personal favorites :)).
Start by walking down İstiklal Street, a lively pedestrian avenue filled with shops, cafes, and historic architecture. Don’t miss the early 20th-century Çiçek Pasajı (Flower Passage), known for its ornate arcades and buzzing tavernas. For a coffee break, grab a Turkish coffee at a chic café — our favorites are Galleria Vitavien İstiklal or Mornings in Pera, although you really can’t go wrong there.
At the end of Istiklal, you’ll reach the famous Galata Tower and, after climbing this medieval stone tower, you’ll be rewarded with a 360° view of the city and Bosphorus. According to legend, if a couple ascends Galata Tower together for the first time, they are destined to marry (a legend thankfully already fulfilled on your honeymoon! 😉). We recommend this skip-the-line Galata Tower Ticket →
In the afternoon, continue your trip back in time with afternoon tea at the Pera Palace Hotel. This historic gem, where icons like Agatha Christie, Greta Garbo, and Hemingway once stayed, serves a traditional high tea in its elegant Kubbeli Saloon.
During your visit, you’ll savor fine teas, indulge in unlimited pastries, and enjoy live music — a delightfully romantic experience. Just be sure to book ahead, as it’s a popular spot!
If you’re into art and culture, the Pera Museum is just a short walk away. It’s a lovely place to immerse yourself in Ottoman-era art and contemporary exhibitions, making it perfect for a relaxed afternoon.
After shopping, dining, and exploring Beyoglu, treat yourselves to a quintessential Turkish ritual: a hamam! While most are gender-segregated, Ağa Hamamı (in Beyoğlu’s hipster Cihangir neighborhood) offers co-ed baths where you can enjoy the Turkish bath ritual side by side. As a bonus, you’ll find plenty of chic cafés nearby for unwinding with a post-hamam coffee or sweet treat.
If you’re staying in historical Sultanahmet, the Acemoğlu Historical Hamam is also a great option.

DAY 3: Asian Side
Have you ever wanted to visit Asia? In Istanbul, you can — and for less than the price of coffee! 😉
Hop aboard the public ferry and cross from Europe to Asia, where authentic flavors, lively streets, and sea views await! Crossing from Europe to Asia by boat is one of Istanbul’s most charming traditions, where you’ll feel the salty breeze on your face, watch the city skyline drift by, and spot seagulls soaring overhead as you glide across the Bosphorus.
After arriving in Kadıköy, you’ll be greeted by a feast for the senses: the air rich with the scent of freshly ground spices, vibrant produce stalls overflowing with color, and the lively hum of street vendors calling out their daily specials.
The best way to learn more about the delights of Turkish cuisine is to join a guided food tour. You’ll sample goodies like baklava, Turkish delight, simit (sesame bagels), local cheeses, and classic meze plates — all while hearing stories about Turkish food culture from someone who knows it best. We recommend this all-inclusive food tour (which includes the ferry ticket, 8 food stops, and 4 drinks!)
After eating your way through Kadıköy, take a stroll to the charmingly cozy Moda neighborhood. Pop into Moda Çay Bahçesi (Tea Garden), order Turkish tea, and soak up views of the Sea of Marmara – on clear days you can even see the Princes’ Islands in the distance.
If you’re up for more sightseeing, a short taxi ride up the Bosphorus coast takes you to Beylerbeyi Palace, a beautiful 19th-century Ottoman palace on the Asian shore. Once a summer palace for sultans, the palace now invites visitors to tour its lavish interiors, complete with crystal chandeliers, intricate ceilings, and marble details. The palace’s location under the Bosphorus Bridge also makes for some unique photos.
Wrap up your Asian-side adventure by making your way to Üsküdar for one of the most romantic sunsets in Istanbul. Head to the promenade at Salacak and find a cozy spot to watch the sun set behind Istanbul’s European skyline, casting golden hues over the city’s iconic domes and minarets.
Just offshore, the legendary Maiden’s Tower (Kız Kulesi) stands gracefully on its islet. Legend has it that Galata Tower is in love with the Maiden’s Tower and constantly sends her love letters, carried by the wings of seagulls.
By the end of the day, you might just find yourself falling in love — with Istanbul, with the view, and maybe even with the idea of coming back again. 😉
WHERE TO STAY

Luxury
For the ultimate in luxury, check into AJWA Sultanahmet or Hagia Sofia Mansions Istanbul — both are located in the heart of the Old Town (Sultanahmet) and offer unparalleled service with Ottoman-era charm. You can also book travel packages with AJWA Sultanahmet through their Booking.com page (i.e. the Old City Package), which includes things like round trip transfers, breakfast, half day tour with professional guide, and your accommodations.
If you want to stay in the cosmopolitan Beyoğlu area, we absolutely love Pera Palace and Ecole St. Pierre Hotel. Pera Palace Hotel is an absolutely iconic, timeless, Belle Époque beauty that once hosted legendary guests like Agatha Christie and Ernest Hemingway. In fact, you can reserve the very rooms that these legends once stayed in (such as the Alfred Hitchcock Suite, Pierre Loti Suite, Jacqueline Kennedy Room, etc.).
Tucked in a quiet side street yet just one block away from Galata, Ecole St. Pierre is a chic boutique hotel with views of Galata Tower that exudes elegance, charm, and a romantic design. The best room is none other than the Suite With Terrace, which opens up to a jaw-dropping view of the Galata Tower. There are only 17 rooms in the entire hotel, so it’s best to book ahead if you want to stay here!
It’s hard to overstate how stunning The Peninsula Istanbul is — right on the Bosphorus with sweeping waterfront views, impeccable rooms (think marble bathrooms, handcrafted Turkish details, and sleek modern touches), and a gorgeous infinity pool that looks out over the water. There’s also a spa that’s perfect for couples and one of the most beautiful afternoon tea settings in the city. It’s a splurge, yes — but a honeymoon-worthy one.
If you want to stay in an actual Ottoman palace — with real marble columns, chandeliers, and a pool that overlooks the Bosphorus — this is your fairytale moment. Çırağan Palace Kempinski is legendary for a reason: elegant rooms, impeccable service, and a location that feels both grand and serene. The terrace breakfasts and waterfront dinners are straight out of a dream.
Last but certainly not least, the Vakko Hotel Sumahan Bosphorus is an absolute dream. The hotel is actually a seaside yali (mansion) in Çengelköy and delivers serene Bosphorus views, understated elegance, and total privacy. The minimalist interiors let the views do the talking, and the peaceful vibe is perfect for couples who want something special.
Mid-range
If you’re looking for chic design without the luxury price tag, Lord Morgan & Exclusive Design Cihangir is a stylish pick in a trendy neighborhood. We recommend the King Suite — it comes with a cozy (faux) fireplace and a mini-hamam that’s perfect for winding down after a day of exploring.
We also love Daru Sultan Hotels Galata, located just a few minutes from the Galata Tower. Its claim to fame are the ornate Ottoman-style interiors and lovely views over the Golden Horn — you’ll feel like a sultan here!
Over in Beyoğlu, The Bank Hotel Istanbul is housed in a beautifully restored historic bank building. The interiors blend classic architecture with contemporary design, and couples can enjoy the on-site spa, rooftop bar with stunning city views, and close proximity to art galleries and chic cafes.
Some of our other mid-range honeymoon hotels in Istanbul include Hotel Empress Zoe, Orient Occident Hotel, and Régie Ottoman Istanbul.
Traveling from Istanbul to Cappadocia
Traveling from Istanbul to Cappadocia is super easy, especially since there are direct flights from both Istanbul Airport (IST) and Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW). The flight time is just about 1 hour and 15 minutes, making it the fastest and most convenient way to reach this magical region.
There are two airports in Cappadocia: Nevşehir Airport (NAV) and Kayseri Erkilet Airport (ASR).
If you want to maximize your time, we recommend flying into Nevşehir Airport (NAV) because it’s closer to the main tourist towns like Göreme, Ürgüp, and Uçhisar—all within a 30-40 minute drive.
That said, Kayseri Airport (ASR) is also a great option, especially if you find cheaper flights. It’s about a 1-hour drive to Göreme but offers more flight options and connections. Plus, transfers from Kayseri are easy to arrange, with shuttles and private transfers readily available.

DAY 4-6: Cappadocia – Fairytale Landscapes & Otherworldly Charm
Bid Istanbul goodbye and head to Cappadocia, the land of fairy chimneys. With its surreal rock formations, ancient cave dwellings, and skies dotted with hot air balloons, this region is one of Turkey’s most enchanting — and romantic! — destinations.
🎈 Cappadocia is a region, not a city. The main towns are Göreme, Ürgüp, and Uçhisar. If you’re doing a DIY trip, we recommend staying in Göreme for its central location. If you plan to do day tours or guided trips, then any of those cities will work — all have their own cave hotels. 🙂
🎈 Book hot air balloons for your first day! Weather can be unpredictable, so booking early allows a second chance (on subsequent days) if flights are canceled.
🎈 Transportation: Cappadocia is best explored by car or through guided tours, as public transport is limited.
Since Cappadocia is a little more flexible (think of it as a choose-your-own adventure!), we’ll share a few ideas so that you can mix, match, and build your own itinerary — i.e. you can take the idea of a hot air balloon ride from Day 1 in the morning, then a trip to Göreme Open-Air Museum (Day 2) in the afternoon, and a Turkish dinner with a show (Day 3) for the evening. You get our point. 🙂
Feel free to choose the activities that sound the most interesting to you!

- Göreme Open-Air Museum: Wander through this UNESCO World Heritage Site, exploring ancient cave churches adorned with Byzantine frescoes that date back to the 10th century.
- Enjoy a Romantic Dinner in Cappadocia Valley: What could be more romantic than enjoying a secluded dinner with a stunning view of Cappadocia’s otherworldly landscapes? 😍 This dinner includes pick up and drop off service, a multi-course dinner, music, and soft drinks →
Day 3: Underground Cities & Relaxation
- Derinkuyu Underground City: Add a little adventure to your honeymoon with a visit to the fascinating Derinkuyu Underground City. This ancient, multi-level city was carved deep into the earth and has cool stone-carved passageways, hidden rooms, ancient kitchens, and even a chapel! This green tour has a rating of 4.9 out of 5 and more than 1,000 positive reviews →
- Cappadocia Horseback Riding: Experience the magic of Cappadocia from a whole new perspective — on horseback! The name Cappadocia means “the Land of Beautiful Horses,” so it’s no wonder that the region’s stunning valleys, fairy chimneys, and unique rock formations are even more breathtaking when explored on a scenic ride. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, this guided tour is a romantic way to connect with the landscape (and your partner). Check availability here →
- Catch a Turkish Dinner with Traditional Folk Dances: Add a little sparkle to your evening with a dinner show in a Cappadocia cave restaurant. Enjoy delicious Turkish cuisine while watching folk dances, whirling dervishes, and live music that bring Turkey’s rich culture to life. No need to worry about transportation either — hotel transfers are included, so you can relax and enjoy the night! Check availability here →
WHERE TO STAY

When in Cappadocia, you must stay at a luxurious cave hotel — it’s an experience all on its own!
If you’re after a stay that’s as magical as it is luxurious, Museum Hotel (in Uçhisar) is the one. Built into restored ruins and ancient stone houses, it’s the only hotel in Turkey that’s part of the Relais & Châteaux collection. Expect panoramic valley views, a heated outdoor pool overlooking hot air balloons at sunrise, and suites filled with antiques — like sleeping in your own private museum. Perfect for couples who want history, style, and once-in-a-lifetime moments all in one place.
Also in Uçhisar is the 4-star Argos in Cappadocia hotel — once a monastery, now a stunning boutique hotel carved into the hillside. Argos is a masterpiece of design: think stone archways, underground tunnels (to access your room!), and private terraces with views of Pigeon Valley. Some rooms even come with in-suite plunge pools or fireplaces. Dinner at their restaurant Seki, with its panoramic terrace and wine from their own vineyard, is the kind of romantic moment you’ll never forget.
Home of that famous rooftop breakfast with the balloons in the background, Sultan Cave Suites (in Göreme) has cozy cave rooms, an incredibly photogenic terrace, and a staff that goes above and beyond to make your stay feel special. It’s especially great for couples who want something romantic but still down-to-earth.
For couples who want a stylish stay with serious design inspiration, Carus Cappadocia perfectly nails the balance between authenticity and modern style. The suites are sleek but still warm, and some come with fireplaces or terraces for a picture-perfect balloon morning. And the pool, ah, the pool! You’ll have to take our word for it — it’s super unique! Bonus: the on-site restaurant is one of the best in Göreme.

WHERE TO STAY

Izmir
Swissôtel Büyük Efes Izmir overlooks the Kordon promenade and features gorgeous gardens, an impressive contemporary art collection, and one of the city’s best spas (hello, couple’s massage!). The rooms are modern and bright, with views of the city, the lush courtyard, or the Aegean Sea — the perfect backdrop to a romantic getaway. Whether you’re sipping cocktails in the leafy garden, unwinding in the spa, or strolling hand-in-hand along the seafront, it’s easy to see why honeymooners love this one.
Perla Pura is our absolute favorite hotel in Izmir and the one we usually stay in when we visit. The rooms have a lovely chic and modern design, and if you book the Junior Suite, there’s even an in-suite hot tub (perfect for relaxing after a flight or exploring!). The location can’t be beat — it’s within a short walk to Pasaport ferry pier, Konak (the main waterside promenade), the city center, the old city center (near Kemeraltı Bazaar), and Izmir Basmane Station (the station where you can take a direct train to Ephesus). No wonder it has a 9/10 rating! 🙂
True to its name, Viva La Vita Butik Otel is a fun contemporary urban design (think soft industrial with a colorful twist) + perfect for foodies — it’s just one block away from the iconic Kıbrıs Şehitleri street, a pedestrian-only street with tons of restaurants, cafes, bars, bookstores, boutiques…
Speaking of boutique… Key Hotel would be our top pick for the most romantic hotel in Izmir. Why, you might ask? It’s located right on the coast (the views are amazing!), has only 34 rooms, a seafront restaurant, a 250-bottle wine cellar (!), and is located in a historical building (a former bank). Could you imagine enjoying a delicious Aegean-inspired dinner — glass of local wine in hand — and overlooking the Gulf of Izmir? 😍
Don’t take our word for it, though — as one reviewer wrote, “My partner and I chose this hotel for a romantic getaway and we had an experience that exceeded our expectations. The decoration of our room was modern and stylish, and the ambiance of the restaurant was great. The dinner we had with the sea view was among our unforgettable memories.”
Izmir Marriott Hotel is another waterfront gem, and a go-to if you’re looking for plush, modern comfort just steps from Pasaport Pier. The vibe here is polished yet cozy, with soft lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows that show off magical Izmir sunsets. Couples love it for the sleek rooftop bar, romantic views, and the relaxing spa — plus, it has a perfect city-center location. It’s the kind of place that makes date nights and lazy mornings feel extra special.
Some of our other favorites include Hotel 86 By Katipoğlu, Zeniva Hotel, and Hyatt Regency Izmir IstinyePark

Ephesus / Selçuk
One of the best boutique hotels in Selçuk is Celsus Boutique Hotel, an intimate and cozy place with only 19 rooms. The hotel includes an outdoor swimming pool, garen, sun terrace, and a concierge. For the ultimate honeymoon, we recommend the Suite with Hot Tub or the Suite with Sauna.
A lovely mid-range option is Kallinos Boutique Hotel, which features a chic minimalist boho style — book the Double Room with Balcony and you’ll be treated with views of the Ruins of St. John.
Speaking of St. John… Another fantastic option is the aptly-named Saint John Hotel, a historical building with a private pool, traditional Ottoman-style decor, and friendly staff.
If you prefer the great outdoors (but with comfortable amenities!), then you’ll love Mandalin Glamping. Each glamping done features plenty of space, a plush bed, bathroom, and a huge terrace with a pool! Best of all, it’s located in a private area but just a 5-minute drive from Selçuk city center.
Some other excellent hotels in Selçuk include Queen Bee Hotel, Akanthus Hotel Ephesus, No. 10 Hotel, and Livia Garden Hotel.

Şirince
Let’s start with our favorite: Nisanyan Hotel is for the couples who want charm, views, and a little bit of quiet luxury — in fact, it feels like a secret made just for the two of you, with only 5 rooms and 6 charming cottages. Besides the gorgeous authentic rooms (the design! the coziness!), there’s also a dreamy garden terrace overlooking all of Şirince and a restaurant serving up regional specialties made from local ingredients.
In two words, this is an absolute paradise — and we won’t be surprised if you’ll want to stay longer. 🙂
For the ultimate in romance, book Stonehouse, a one-of-a-kind hideaway where a rustic stone hot tub takes center stage right in your bedroom.
Meanwhile, Gullu Konaklari is a boutique hotel set in a lovingly-restored 100-year-old mansion. Each room is named after a different variety of rose (a tribute to the mansion’s rose garden!) and is sure to captivate with its antique charm and mountain views. We especially love the Chalet, which is a stand-alone stone house (located 2 km from the main building) that offers privacy and amazing views.
Our other favorite hotels and guesthouses in Şirince include Mystic Konak, Çirkince Konak Şirince, and Heaven’s Gate.
Planning to rent a car and drive around the area? Vinifera Vineyards Hotel is located within a 20-minute drive to Selçuk, Ephesus, Şirince, and Kuşadasi. Besides the charming rustic rooms, Vinifera is also a working vineyard and offers a wine tasting experience — how romantic!
